Thank you for creating for me! I love surprises and have very broad tastes both for fic and art. If you want to get the creative ball rolling, I added a few prompt words and phrases below. (Feel free to choose a prompt from any of the fandoms or to create something completely different.) I’m happy with any rating and any ship (between requested characters). I equally enjoy genfic and stories focusing on individual characters and/or friendships. (You can also browse previous exchange letters for more character specific prompts.)

[community profile] space_swap works were revealed yesterday, and I received two amazing gifts! I might have squealed out loud when I saw that one of them was an Eighth Doctor Adventures story: Those Meddling Kids. It's a true delight <3. Five times John and Delenn almost kissed took me right back to my days of being obsessed with Babylon 5 (still one of my favorite shows out there). The Space Swap collection can be found here – lots of Doctor Who stuff, especially Classic and Big Finish Audio. It's so strange to actually know most of the fandoms in an exchange for once – I'll need some time to work my way through the works.

I only just discovered [community profile] genfreeformexchange – unfortunately too late to sign up, but I'll keep an eye out for pinch hits or maybe write a treat or two.

I finished the EDA Unnatural History, and I have to say, I thoroughly enjoyed it. I glanced at the reviews on the old Outpost Gallifrey website, and the book didn't seem to go down to well. The story's pseudo science might be quite out there, but I loved all the character stuff. I really enjoyed alternative!Sam and her interactions with both the Doctor and Fitz. I've now started Interference - Book One – a big story IIRC. So far, I'm intrigued.

On the Doctor Who Big Finish Audio front - I finished the Lucie Miller run, and wow, the ending of Series 4 packs a punch. I might have something in my eye... I've now started the Dark Eyes boxset, and I'm enjoying it so far. The atmosphere is quite different from both the Charley and Lucie runs, but I like it. Great music, and Paul McGann is phenomenal in those first ten minutes of The Great War.

I need to get myself into gear to write my story for this year's [community profile] ds_c6d_bigbang. I think I have a pretty decent F/K established relationship plot idea, and I've made an outline, but I'm struggling to get started. I've written a rough draft of the first chapter, but I should try to get more done during my Easter break. Looking forward to the chat on Saturday!

I'm loving getting back into my main fandom from 12-18 years ago, especially all the Eighth Doctor stuff. I've now listened to all the Eight and Charley Big Finish Audios and am almost through the Lucie Miller ones as well. Next up, Dark Eyers and the Charley and Six audios. I've also dusted off the EDAs I collected from eBay years ago. I jumped in with The Taint and Revolution Man and have now started Unnatural History. (I only wish my eyes were more cooperative or the font were bigger :P)

The [community profile] seasonsofdrabbles winter round has wrapped up. I may have gone a bit overboard, but I was enjoying myself too much lol. I used to love writing drabbles in my old Doctor Who fandom days, so it was great fun to get back into it. I find the form fascinating, both as a reader and a writer. I enjoy the challenge of trying to capture a moment with a limited word count. The exchange itself was a lot of fun - I loved the idea of treating, and it was a good opportunity to write for some fandoms I've never tried for before. I also received lots of wonderful gifts. Really looking forward to next round!

I came across several Doctor Who Big Finish requests for [community profile] seasonsofdrabbles , and they got me back into the audios that I really enjoyed over a decade ago. I'm having a blast listening to all these stories again and discovering new ones.

I've started out with the Eight and Charley adventures, since I remember loving them at the time. My two favourites so far are both written by Robert Shearman: The Chimes of Midnight and especially Scherzo (what a brilliant use of the audio format, great script, great acting, and the drama!). I also liked how Invaders of Mars tied in with the original War of the Wars radio broadcast, and The Natural History of Fear was great too - lots of briliant acting in that, and what a twist.

I just arrived at Terra Firma, but since I have this week off from work, I'll probably finish their original run by the end of the week. (I haven't been a huge fan of the Divergent universe storyline, even if I really liked some of the individual stories). Then I'll have to decide if I should proceed with the Lucie Miller ones (I listened to some of those at the time but can't really remember much at all) or if I should try one of the new boxsets like Dark Eyes or Doom Coalition.

I also listened to a bit a bit of Six and Evelyn - I remember really liking them. I adore Evelyn, can't wait to listen to more of those stores. (And I'll have to try some of the other Doctors as well, but there are just so many hours of content :P)

Under the Arctic Moon [+ART] (3657 words) by lomelinde
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: due South, Doctor Who (2005), Doctor Who
Rating: General Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Characters: Benton Fraser, Twelfth Doctor, The Doctor's TARDIS
Additional Tags: Crossover, Childhood, Childhood Friends, Loss, Family, Friendship, Time Travel, Inspired by Fanart, Fanart, Memories
Series: Part 2 of Ben Fraser’s Magical Tales
Summary: One night, when he was ten years old, Ben Fraser saw a strange blue box standing under the pine trees just outside his grandparents’ cabin.

___

This started out as an entry for the the [community profile] drawesome Redux challenge, for which I redid a "TARDIS in the snow" piece of fanart I made back in 2007. As I was painting, I imagined how this could be northern Canada (because due South has taken over my brain), and how young Benton Fraser might wander inside the TARDIS and end up meeting the Doctor. This is the story that grew out of these musings. I tried to write it in such a way that it also makes sense if you either don't know due Southor Doctor Who—I hope I succeeded.

Dipping my toe in over at [community profile] drawesome with the Challenge 38: Redux - redraw any of your previous artworks.

I went digging and found this on one of my old hard drives: a TARDIS Christmas card I painted in 2007 for my Doctor Who friends, and I thought that one could be fun to redo. (And, since my brain has been eaten by due South recently, it got me thinking about a crossover story where young Ben finds the TARDIS one night and meets the 12th Doctor.)

2021 Redux Preview:

I haven't used acrylic paint in ages. It was fun, though I now wish I had used paper with less grain (or one of the canvas panels I have kicking around). I feel like I need practice with this medium, but it was fun to do!
